Simpson: Our defending was rubbish

Despite Lewis Neal giving the Shrews the lead, the Quakers fought back through Jamie Devitt and Simon Thomas to record their first victory of the campaign. "That was a disappointing performance especially after the start that we had to the game," Simpson said. "But we thought we would be clever and try tippy-tappy football rather than do what we should have done. "We said before the game that Darlington aren't a bad side and we would need to get at them. "I'm bitterly disappointed. We gave them the lift and momentum to go on and win the game and good players became bad players and their winning goal was a disaster for us. "We totally failed to deal with it. Defensively we were rubbish and we will have to take this loss on the chin and get over it."
