The right-back, 28, rejected a new contract at Shrewsbury and McIlroy was pleased to secure his services. He said: "Darren is a very experienced defender at this level and I am delighted that he has agreed a move to Christie Park. He will be an excellent addition to the squad." Meanwhile, Morecambe's bid to sign Curtis Allen has ended in failure after the Lisburn Distillery striker opted to join Linfield. Shrimps vice-chairman Graham Hodgson said: "It is disappointing because we had agreed everything and it came as a bit of a shock when we heard he had signed for someone else. "But we will begin to look at other options and when one door closes another one opens and we will be doing all we can to bring more quality players like Darren Moss to Christie Park for the new season."
