Ryan McGivern banned for managerless Shrewsbury for Sheffield United's visit

Ryan McGivern is banned for managerless Shrewsbury for Sheffield United's visit after being sent off in their defeat to Walsall on Saturday.

The defender, who spent time on loan at the Saddlers in 2010-11, was dismissed after collecting two yellow cards in the 3-2 loss - Shrewsbury's fourth red of the season.

Defeat left Town, who are still looking for a manager after Micky Mellon's departure earlier this month, in the Sky Bet League One relegation zone.

Shaun Whalley is expected to be out until at least the end of the month with a calf injury.

United defender Chris Basham will return to contention after completing a three-game ban.

Boss Chris Wilder has reported no new injury problems and is not expected to make changes following Saturday's comprehensive home win against Port Vale.

Defender Daniel Lafferty is likely to resume as his withdrawal at the weekend was precautionary due to cramp so Wilder could be tempted to name an unchanged starting line-up.

Striker Caolan Lavery returned to the bench on Saturday after recovering from an ankle problem and is hoping to feature as the Blades bid to extend their unbeaten league run to nine games.
