Two out for Shrews

Shrewsbury duo Darren Jones and Jermaine Grandison will definitely miss the clash with Portsmouth.

Jones, who underwent surgery on a dislocated shoulder last weekend, is expected to return to fitness in three months, while Grandison is set to see a specialist to determine whether he needs surgery on his hip.

Mark Wright, who has been sidelined with a hip injury, is expected to miss out again despite being close to a return.

Defender Joe Jacobson scored a rare goal in Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Oldham and is expected to keep his place in the side.

Midfielder Matt Richards and defender James Hurst are pushing for starts.

Portsmouth will check on Ricardo Rocha ahead of the trip.

The Portuguese defender has missed Pompey's last two matches with a hamstring niggle.

Rocha is unlikely to be risked unless he is 100 per cent fit so boss Guy Whittingham could stick with the side which thumped Sheffield United 3-0 last weekend, meaning Sam Sodje keeps his place at centre-half.

Young midfielder Nick Awford made his debut as a late substitute against the Blades and will be hoping to be involved again.

Teenage winger Jed Wallace could be playing his last game for the club having been linked with a summer move along the south coast to Brighton.

Whittingham takes charge for the first time since being confirmed as Pompey's permanent manager on Wednesday.
