Shrewsbury V Port Vale at Greenhous Meadow Stadium : Match Preview

03 February 2012 11:01
Same again for Shrews In-form Shrewsbury are likely to remain unchanged for the visit of Port Vale as they look to secure a fourth successive victory. Manager Graham Turner is not expected to have any new injury concerns to contend with and may well stick with the same XI who claimed a 2-0 derby success at Hereford last weekend. Striker Marvin Morgan serves the second game of a two-match suspension, while defenders Shane Cansdell-Sherriff (shoulder), Reuben Hazell (knee) and Connor Goldson continue to miss out but are making good progress with their respective comebacks. Fifth-placed Shrews are the only remaining side in League Two unbeaten on home soil this season and they will be desperate to extend that record with just five points now separating the top six. Port Vale will try to patch up Marc Richards and Tom Pope in time. Richards continues to play through the pain barrier having been plagued by a troublesome ankle injury all season. The Vale captain is delaying having the operation he requires until the club's injury list begins to ease. Fellow forward Pope marked his return from a groin injury by climbing off the bench to score the winning goal against Plymouth. However, he has been back in the treatment room this week. "It is the same as last week really. I don't think there is any great difference to the situation we are in," Vale boss Micky Adams told the club's official website. "Tom Pope is receiving treatment again and Marc Richards is back in there. "Marc Richards is struggling on. Everyone is aware that he has got a problem but I think it is just a matter of him managing it as best as he can in the early part of the week and then making sure he is ready for Saturday." Midfielders Ryan Burge (knee) and Lewis Haldane (broken leg) and defenders Gareth Owen (arm) and Lee Collins (ankle) will remain sidelined.
