New options for Turner

Shrewsbury Graham Turner could hand debuts to as many as five new players when they host MK Dons.

Defenders Alex McQuade and Dave Winfield are expected to line up at the back alongside new club captain Tamika Mkandawire.

Birmingham loanee Akwasi Asante is also likely to start in midfield while former Stoke striker John Marsden should start in attack.

Turner will be without a number of senior players from last season including the likes of Matt Richards and Rob Purdie after a summer clear-out at Greenhous Meadow.

Dean Bowditch will miss out for MK Dons.

The forward is still regaining full fitness following groin surgery, while striker Patrick Bamford and right-back Jon Otsemobor are also injury concerns.

Bamford is being monitored after suffering an ankle injury during the club's pre-season trip to Ireland. The 21-year-old has made three appearances, two from the bench, since limping off against St. James' Gate last month but he will be closely watched by manager Karl Robinson and the medical team over the next 48 hours.

Otsemobor has struggled with a knee injury throughout pre-season, however the defender did make it through the friendly against a Tottenham XI this week.
