James Collins could return for Shrewsbury's clash with Colchester

Shrewsbury striker James Collins is expected to return to contention for the home game against Colchester following paternity leave.

Collins missed the midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Fleetwood following the birth of his son.

Boss Micky Mellon made eight changes on Tuesday night, with midfielder Ian Black making his debut, and he will be hoping to make his first league appearance.

Winger Junior Brown scored a fine goal while making a rare start in midweek and could retain his place, while Jayson Leutwiler will continue in goal in place of Mark Halstead, who is sidelined with a groin injury.

Colchester will be without suspended defender Matthew Briggs after he received his fifth yellow card of the season in last week's defeat at Bury.

Boss Tony Humes, who named an unchanged side last week, has no major new injury worries but is still without Kane Vincent-Young (Achilles), while fellow defender Alex Wynter had ankle surgery this week.

Striker Chris Porter is pushing for his first start since recovering from an ankle injury sustained on the opening day of the season after late substitute appearances in the last two matches.

Colchester, 10th in the table, are chasing a third straight league win on the road.
