Shrews tame Bulls in derby

Shrewsbury saw off Hereford 3-1 to make it four npower League Two wins in a row after an eventful local derby.

Marvin Morgan was the star of the show, netting twice, as Shrewsbury prevailed despite being down to 10 men for the last half-hour after Terry Gornell, Morgan's strike partner, was sent off for lunging at Hereford goalkeeper Dave Cornell.

Shrewsbury were quickly out of the blocks, with Morgan latching onto a long pass from Jermaine Grandison and rounding Cornell to give them a fifth minute lead.

Graham Turner's side also started the second half brightly, Mark Wright doubling the advantage in the 49th minute with a first-time shot from 15 yards into the roof of the net after a mis-hit Sean McAllister effort kindly ran his way.

It was game on again when Gornell saw red and Hereford were back in the hunt in the 73rd minute when sub Tom Barkhuizen, on loan from Blackpool, turned in a Ryan Green cross from eight yards.

Hereford skipper Delroy Facey then hit the bar from 25 yards before Morgan wrapped it up for 10-man Shrewsbury 11 minutes from time, firing past Cornell after a good run and pass from Lionel Ainsworth.
