Shrews without Van den Broek for Cobblers clash

Shrewsbury will be without Benjamin van den Broek for their home game against Northampton. The midfielder fractured his ankle while playing for the club`s reserves on Wednesday night and has been ruled out for between six to eight weeks. Van den Broek was yet to start a league game for Town this term but had proved a reliable asset from the bench having made substitute appearances in all six games. The Dutchman came on at half-time in last weekend`s 2-0 defeat at Gillingham - Shrews` first loss of the season which resulted in the club losing top spot in League Two. Goalkeeper Chris Neal will be hoping the defeat does not jeopardise his place between the sticks with Ben Smith, who started the campaign as first choice, now fully fit again after a groin injury. Defender Danny O'Donnell (groin) and striker Nathan Elder (knee) remain in the treatment room with long-term injuries.
