Shrews pair fine after head wounds

Shrews went into Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Bradford with 18 fit players, just enough for a complete matchday squad, as a result of a host of injury problems. And their bad luck continued as Simpson and Labadie both took blows to the face/head in the closing stages and, although the latter was able to continue, the former was forced off the pitch following advice from a doctor. But manager Paul Simpson told the club's official website on Monday: "Jake took the full force of the ball in his face during the second half and afterwards he was a little groggy for five to 10 minutes. "He complained that his hands were feeling numb and this caused some concern from the doctor who advised taking him off. "With Joss having treatment after a blow to the back of his head, Jake said he would stay on as we would have been down to 10 men. In the end, though, Joss was okay to continue and Jake came off to receive some treatment from the doctor. He was a bit sore on Saturday night but seems okay this morning, though he is still a little groggy."
