Shrews hopeful of Boxing Day go-ahead

Shrewsbury are cautiously optimistic about the chances of the Boxing Day clash against Bury at the Greenhous Meadow getting the go-ahead. As it stands, groundstaff at the stadium insist the pitch is in "very good condition" despite the current freezing temperatures and snowfall. Town's playing surface was covered well before this most recent cold snap caught hold and the League Two club will look to constantly review the situation throughout this week. Graham Turner's side have played just once in four weeks, with Saturday's trip to Oxford falling foul of the wintry conditions, and they will be desperately hoping the traditional Boxing Day fixture gets the green light.
