The centre-back converted Luke Rodgers' cross five minutes from time to cancel out Shrewsbury's deserved first-half lead.[LNB]Shrews on-loan winger Jamie Devitt had opened the scoring on 30 minutes, calmly slotting past Kasper Schmeichel after being picked out in the box by Dean Holden.[LNB]Out-muscled in the first-half, the Magpies were contained to just long-range efforts from Craig Westcarr and Rodgers, but had numerous efforts after the interval stopped by the heroics of goalkeeper Steve Phillips.[LNB]Phillips punched clear Rodgers's stinging effort, stopped Lee Hughes's close range strike with his legs and denied Ade Akinbiyi's turn and shot.[LNB]Shrewsbury, who had lost three of their last four outings, did have chances to win themselves, with Dave Hibbert's diving header forcing Schmeichel into a full-length save and his follow-up volley being cleared off the line by Lee.[LNB][LNB]
