Shrews beaten by in-form Bantams

05 September 2009 06:29
It could have been a different story as the Shrews had five good efforts in the first 11 minutes, with Dean Holden's shot cleared off the line and Simon Eastwood making a stunning save from Dave Hibbert's overhead kick.

But Bradford stunned the hosts and scored with their first chance 15 minutes in, with Michael Flynn squaring for Gareth Evans to shoot home.

In-form midfielder Flynn then made it two after 35 minutes with a fine 30-yard drive that flew into the bottom corner.

Hibbert's pulled one back for Paul Simpson's men with a glancing header and Kelvin Langmead and Jake Simpson both hit the crossbar as Shrewsbury pressed hard for an equaliser.
