Sharps pleased with award

Shrewsbury skipper Ian Sharps is celebrating being named in the PFA`s League Two team of the year for 2010/11, but insists promotion remains his biggest aim. The experienced centre-back has been a rock at the heart of Shrews` battle for promotion, starting 39 of the club`s 42 league matches to date this term and scoring once. Sharps has proved a sound addition by manager Graham Turner, who made him his first signing on a free transfer from Rotherham last summer having also been named in the League Two XI 12 months ago following a successful season with the Millers. The 30-year-old told Town`s official website: "It`s great to win any award but to be awarded one by your fellow professionals is a really big one. It should prove a boost for all the team going into these important final games as they all played a part in this award. "The real goal is promotion and individual honours will mean little if we don`t achieve that success we have strived for all season."
