Roy delighted with Wickham display

16-year-old Wickham scored twice as the Suffolk side were made to fight all the way by the Shrews, for whom Jake Robinson, Dave Hibbert and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff were on target. Wickham, who will be on England Under-17 duty later this month, has impressed his new boss and Keane said: "I don't know how far this boy can go. It's up to him but he has great potential. He works hard, but we will look after him. It's not good for him or the club to play him every week. Believe it or not he's still growing." Despite the defeat Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson felt it was his side's best performance since he took charge in March 2008. "After Saturday's performance we were even better but we also learnt that if you give players from a higher league room you'll get punished," he said. "Wickham looks like an outstanding prospect. I'd like to check on his passport - I can't believe he's only 16!" Wickham's close control brought his first goal after 11 minutes, only for Shrewsbury to equalise with Robinson's snap-shot after 18 minutes and Hibbert's spectacular effort six minutes later. Alan Quinn equalised with a 32nd-minute free-kick before Wickham's delightful left-foot shot made it 3-2 after 58 minutes. Shrewsbury took the game into extra-time with a waist-high left-foot volley by Cansdell-Sherriff 15 minutes from the end. Ipswich scored all of their four penalties after Robinson had missed Shrewsbury's first and Graham Coughlan fired the fourth over the crossbar.
