Phillips relishing Shrews game time

Phillips arrived at the Prostar on Wednesday with regular shot-stopper Chris Neal out for around four weeks due to a groin problem and Glyn Garner still suffering with his shoulder injury. The Bath-born goalkeeper was first choice for Rovers last season but recently lost his place to Fraser Forster and was later transfer-listed at his own request. Having completed his switch to Shropshire, Phillips told Shrews' official website: "With the transfer window closing in under a week I needed to make a decision and I felt it was the ideal opportunity to come to such a good club. "I want to play games so it's good to be here and have that chance. I'm 31 years of age and I need to be playing. Bristol Rovers haven't got a reserve side so I'd just have been sitting on the bench there doing nothing." He added: "We've got a tough game against Accrington away on Saturday and I've got to get to know everyone pretty quickly."
