Shrewsbury defender Danny O`Donnell is poised to leave the Greenhous Meadow in January having failed to earn an extended contract.
The 24-year-old former Crewe man joined the League Two promotion hopefuls on a six-month deal over the summer and made a positive early impression before struggling with injury.
But having regained fitness he failed to reclaim his place in Graham Turner`s backline and, after making a total of seven appearances of which the last came in late October, the Town boss has broken the news to O'Donnell ahead of this weekend`s short trip to Burton.
"Danny was unfortunate that he got injured when he was doing well in the side," Turner told the club`s official website.
"I`d like to thank him for his work over the last six months and I`m sure he will get fixed up with a club very soon."
