Holden didn't expect recall

Dean Holden has admitted his surprise at being recalled early from his loan spell at Rotherham but has stressed his determination to do everything he can to nail down a first-team place at Shrewsbury. The defender joined the Millers at the start of August on a one-month deal which was later extended by a further two months, making a total of seven appearances at the Don Valley Stadium. But with time still remaining on his stint in Yorkshire, Shrews boss Graham Turner was on Wednesday forced to bring him back down to Shropshire to counter some injury concerns ahead of Saturday`s trip to Chesterfield. Holden told Town`s official website: "I didn`t realise it was the gaffer on the phone when he rang, he made a joke and asked whether I had forgotten about him already. It was a phone call out of the blue to be honest when I got home on Wednesday morning, but it`s good to be back at Shrewsbury. "Now it`s about getting out onto the training field and getting back into the swing of things and pushing for a place in the Chesterfield game. "I`ll be training as well as I can do, putting 100% effort in and trying to get into the first-team, which is what everyone at the club wants to do, especially when a club is doing well at the top of the table - everyone wants to be a part of that first 11."
