Goalkeeper extends Shrews loan

The Bristol Rovers goalkeeper was due to make the final appearance of his month-long deal against the Robins but, with regular stopper Chris Neal still not 100% following his groin injury, Phillips has signed on with the Shropshire outfit for another month. Manager Paul Simpson told Shrews Player: "Steve has done excellent for us and it gives us a month now to get Chris back to full fitness but also to have a good look and maybe even decide that we might need to push it even further with Steve." Defender Dean Holden is a new injury concern ahead of the trip to the Abbey Business Stadium after he was forced off midway through the second half of Saturday's 3-0 win over Northampton with a tight groin, although Simpson is hoping he will be okay. The Shrews boss already has enough injury problems, with Neal joined on the sidelines by fellow keeper Glyn Garner (shoulder), defender Mike Jackson (bone bruising), midfielders Craig Disley (knee) and Terry Dunfield (shoulder) and striker Omer Riza (ankle).
