Davies poised to quit Shrewsbury

Davies scored 13 goals for the Shrews last season but now looks certain to leave along with defender Darren Moss, who has joined League Two rivals Morecambe. Simpson told the club's official website: "I think we have to accept that Ben Davies is going to be moving on from us. I've told Ben that I'm now planning without him and that I don't expect him to be coming back to us, but we will have to see what happens over the next few days. "Unfortunately Darren Moss decided that the contract we had offered wasn't acceptable and he moves on now." Simpson is still waiting to hear if Chris Humphrey will sign a new deal but Kelvin Langmead, Steve Leslie and Omer Riza have all penned new contracts. Having recruited former Shrewsbury favourite Mickey Brown as part-time fitness coach, Simpson revealed he is in talks with an unnamed winger to replace Davies, adding: "I'm just waiting for a decision back from him; he also has other clubs who are interested in League One and in Scotland."
