Daggers beaten by 10-man Shrews

Goals from Terry Gornell and James Collins earned 10-man Shrewsbury a 2-0 victory against struggling Dagenham.

Daggers defender Richard Rose gifted the visitors the opener on six minutes, when his miscued clearance ran across goal to allow Gornell to nip in and poke the ball past keeper Chris Lewington.

Shrewsbury were dealt a setback midway through the first half when debutant James Wallace was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Jon Nurse.

The home side pressed for an equaliser before the interval, but Nurse and Danny Green were both thwarted by keeper Chris Neal. Substitute Collins missed two golden opportunities within minutes of coming on to seal the win.

First he rose highest to meet Matt Richards' free-kick but headed straight at Lewington. Then, his fine solo run into the box finished with a fierce shot being blocked by Rose.

In the final action of the game Scott Doe gave away a penalty and was sent off for a foul on Collins, who dusted himself down to score from the spot.
