Boss slams Shrews after Macc loss

Shane Cansdell-Sherriff's own goal set the ball rolling before Gareth Evans added a second from the penalty spot and substitute Nat Brown fired home a third in injury time. Speaking truly and calmly but with passion in his voice, Simpson said: "We came to a side that their own manager described in the programme as mediocre and then gave nothing short of our worst performance of the season. "If players think they are going to get promotion they must be joking. We have a group of players who just cannot deal with expectation. "You need to be brave to deal with expectation and they don't have it in their character. I think these players need their home comforts, they come away from home, away from the familiarity of their own dressing rooms and they simply can't cope. "It's nothing short of embarrassing that I've put a team out on the park who perform like that. It's me and the staff who will get the blame and I'm not trying to shirk that but the players get on the coach and they feel protected. I think some of them don't care. They're not going to be here next season and they don't think it will affect them."
