Aldershot 3-0 Shrewsbury: Report

09 April 2011 17:29
Danny at the double Shrewsbury slipped out of the automatic promotion places as Danny Hylton's double helped Aldershot to a 3-0 win. Graham Turner's men had won their last three games but never recovered from two goals in the space of five minutes from Hylton and defender Ben Herd - his first goal for the Shots against his former club. The visitors though started brightly and could have taken the lead as David Raven's dangerous cross just failed to find the onrushing Matt Harrold and James Collins before Mark Wright completely miscued a volley. Instead the home team took the lead in the 24th minutes as Jermaine McGlashan found Hylton on the left who lashed home from just inside the area. Herd found space five minutes later on the edge of the box but his low effort took a wicked deflection off Niall Canavan to give goalkeeper Ben Smith little chance. McGlashan proved a constant thorn in the Shrews' defence and he won a penalty in the 76th minute when he was brought down by Mat Sadler and Hylton made no mistake.
