Wood's Owls exit edges closer

Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws plans to sign two players on loan after accepting an offer for Richard Wood.

The defender is on the verge of moving to an unnamed Championship club, believed to be Coventry City, later this week but Laws' main target is thought to be a striker.

The Owls boss told the Sheffield Star: "I expect something to happen within the next 48 hours.

"Hopefully, before the loan window shuts, we can bring in possibly two players, if we can negotiate with the clubs on wages.

"I'm looking at strengthening the striking area. We just need a bit of back-up, and need to freshen things up a bit."
