Wood placed on transfer list

Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Wood has been placed on the transfer list by manager Brian Laws.

His contract expires next year and the club believe he is pricing himself out of a new contract at Hillsborough.

Laws made the announcement at his routine Middlewood press conference ahead of the Bristol City game and said: "We have been talking with him for weeks and weeks, though everyone thought we would be leaving it until January.

"Richard and his agent think he should be the highest-paid player at this club.

"His demands are too great. There is no negotiating to be done.
