Triple boost for Owls
20 Sep 2006 - 08:12:14
Sheffield Wednesday manager Paul Sturrock has received some good news on the fitness of three key players as he looks to guide the Owls away from the relegation zone.
Wednesday have won only one of their first eight Championship matches and scored just five goals but have been boosted by the return of strikers Steven MacLean, Drew Talbot and Barry Corr to training.
Talbot and Corr are coming back from long-term injuries but MacLean may play some part in Saturday's match against Derby County.
"Steven's chomping at the bit," Sturrock told Wednesday's official website.
"He's told me he gets breakages or nothing - he probably doesn't run quick enough to get strains! I wouldn't worry about him as he's had a pre-season.
"Talbot and Corr have been injury-prone in their careers. I've had a wee chat to them about warm-ups, warm-downs, weight training and strengthening work to make sure they don't get injuries. They took that on board."
