Spurr hopes for swift return

Sheffield Wednesday defender Tommy Spurr is hoping to be back in action quicker than his four-week prognosis after suffering ankle ligament damage.

Spurr has been told he faces around a month on the sidelines after picking up the injury during last weekend's 4-0 defeat at Plymouth Argyle.

But the 21-year-old full-back is confident that he can be back in action ahead of schedule.

"It could be around four weeks," he told the club's official website.

"I don't know if it will be that long, I'm hoping it will be less.

"In my head I'll be back quicker, we'll just have to wait and see.

"On the positive side, I won't miss a game this week because of the international break, so at least it didn't happen right in the middle of a busy period."
