Simek could make derby date

Sheffield Wednesday right-back Frankie Simek could make a dramatic return to first-team action in the Sheffield derby later this month.

The 23-year-old has been sidelined for the last nine months with an ankle injury but returned to action in the reserve team's 4-0 win against Bradford City's second string on Tueday.

When asked if he would be ready to face the Blades, Simek said: "I'm not going to say yes or no.

"Last season, after I was injured, I was saying I'd be back for the home derby but I wasn't and I was frustrated.

"I don't know when I'll be back. I'm taking it day by day. I know Sheffield United is the next game but, after that, I don't know what the schedule is.

"It's good to be back playing again though."
