    Owls veteran aims to stay

    19 Jun 2007 - 13:46:17

Sheffield Wednesday defender Graham Coughlan has vowed to prove manager Brian Laws wrong and work his way back into the first-team picture.

The 32-year-old central defender has been linked with a move to Swindon Town after being told he was surplus to requirements at Hillsborough.

But the experienced stopper claims he is not ready to throw in the towel in the Championship just yet.

"I believe I should be in the starting XI, but for whatever reason I'm not," he said.

"I played 56 consecutive games for Wednesday under (former manager) Paul Sturrock, and have barely kicked a ball since he left.

"The club have asked me to move on, but I'm determined to get my shot under Brian Laws.

"At the moment I have every intention of attending pre-season, however, football can change in a matter of seconds."
