Sheffield Wednesday's hopes of signing Everton goalkeeper Iain Turner on a permanent basis have been dashed by Toffees boss David Moyes.
The 23-year-old former Cambridge United shot-stopper has made seven appearances during his loan spell at Hillsborough and Owls boss Brian Laws had been keen to tie up a permanent transfer in the summer.
But Moyes said: "Iain's done very well. We're very pleased with the reports on him.
"He has a future with us. He's on loan and will return here."
Laws remains in the market for a new shot-stopper though as Turner and another loanee, Mark Crossley, have shared goalkeeping duties for the club this term.
"We need to sign a goalkeeper," he admitted.
"If it's not Iain then it will be somebody else. We've whittled it down to four or five players."
