Owls swoop for Johnson
31 Jan 2007 - 07:46:16
Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Bradford City winger Jermaine Johnson for an undisclosed fee.
The Jamaica international has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal after attracting the interest of Wednesday boss Brian Laws during his first season in English football with the cash-strapped Bantams.
"We have gone for him because he's got something not many teams have - electric pace," Laws told the club's official website.
"He is as quick running with the ball as he is without it and will give us the dimension we need either out wide or up front.
"It also gives us cover at a time where we've been looking to strength in wide area and Jermaine can play both on the right, left and up front.
"I think the supporters will love him because he's one of those players who gets you on the edge of your seat."
Johnson made 31 appearances for Bradford City after moving to Valley Parade from Tivoli Gardens in the summer.
