Owls swoop for Buxton loan

Sheffield Wednesday has bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Stoke City's Lewis Buxton on a month's loan.

The 24-year-old has not featured in the Premier League for the Potters this season and moves to Hillsborough to cover for a number of injuries among the Owls' ranks.

Wednesday boss Brian Laws told his club's official website: "I think everyone recognised that we're short of cover at the back and we've taken a few injuries lately.

"We've been looking up and down the country for a utility player at the back and it's not been easy.

"He's got a good pedigree, having played over 100 games, most of them in the Championship, and he can play anywhere in the defence, which is a very important factor for us."
