Owls snare Boro's McMahon

Sheffield Wednesday have landed Middlesbrough defender Tony McMahon on a month's loan.

The 22-year-old full-back has been signed to help fill the void created by Richard Hinds' absence after breaking his leg last weekend.

"Tony is a player that ticks all the right boxes. He's played in Middlesbrough's first team and is very highly valued by Gareth Southgate," manager Brian Laws told the club's official website.

"Tony has played in Europe, he's got a great CV and I'm delighted to bring him to Sheffield Wednesday."

McMahon has made 25 first-team appearances for the Premier League club.
