Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws has confirmed that the club have opened contract talks with strike pair Steven MacLean and Deon Burton.
Both men are free agents in the summer, but Laws is keen to tie them to the Hillsborough club on fresh terms.
Laws told the club's official website: "We're already heavily in discussions with the players in terms of further contracts.
"It is an ongoing thing which won't happen in five minutes."
MacLean has been with the Owls since the summer of 2004 and has scored 34 goals in 87 appearances, but has suffered a number of injury problems.
Burton linked up with the Owls just over a year ago and has netted 15 goals in 58 games.
