Owls must build on encouraging result
Wednesday Vs Ipswich: team news & preview
Sheffield Wednesday face Ipswich Town at Hillsborough on Saturday knowing that anything less than a win could well leave them in the bottom three in the Championship going into next weeks international break.
Wednesday picked up a valuable point at Brighton on Tuesday evening but they are in desperate need of picking up their first victory of the season.
Dave Jones' side are boosted by the return of reliable right-back Lewis Buxton who returned to action at Brighton following a month-long injury lay-off.
On loan Hull City striker Matt Fryatt bagged his first goal for the Owls on Tuesday and is likely to start in front of the Hillsborough faithful.
Stephen McPhail has impressed in midfield since signing for the club last month and the experienced playmaker will be looking to provide Fryatt with the ammunition to thrive on in front of goal.
Ipswich travel to Hillsborough no doubt still smarting from their midweek draw at Pride Park. Mick McCarthy's men held a 4-1 lead over Derby County but in the end had to settle for a 4-4 draw.
Town travel north with hardly any fresh injury concerns. Luke Chambers picked up a slight knock in midweek but is expected to be fully fit to face the Owls. The tractor boys will be hoping that in-form striker David McGoldrick can cause problems against one of his former teams. The former Forest front man, who had a short loan spell with Wednesday during the 2011/12 season, has already found the net 5 times this season.
Wednesday have amassed just 5 points from 9 league games so far and are yet to win this season. Ipswich have picked up 9 more points than their hosts but have collected only 2 points from 5 away games to date.
Last seasons corresponding fixture resulted in a 1-1 draw back in April, the Owls enjoyed a convincing 3-0 win at Portman Road last October thanks largely to the then on-loan Everton and England prospect Ross Barkley.
Ipswich have not lost on their last 4 visits to Hillsborough.
