Owls make it four from five this week as another player joins

Full-back signs Sheffield Wednesday deal Sheffield Wednesday have made it a quartet of new signings this week by adding former Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Daniel Jones to their ranks. The 23-year-old Dudley born defender only made a total on ten appearances for the west midlands club in five years at Molineux but has made over fifty appearances on loan at League One and League Two clubs. In 2007/08 he Jones made over 30 appearances in two spells at Northampton and another 23 at Oldham in 2008/09, again in two spells. He had a brief spell at Notts County in the first half of last season before finishing the season at Bristol Rovers, making 17 starts for the Pirates. The young left-back, who should have his best years ahead of him, has agreed a three-year deal at Hillsborough which will commence of July 1st. In a statement on Wednesday’s official website, www.swfc.co.uk Owls manager Alan Irvine commented that Jones is “quick, very athletic and has an excellent left foot”, going on to state that “Daniel is a player with potential to really develop”. Jones will join up with fellow new signings Chris Sedgwick, Paul Heffernan and Jon Otsemobor and the rest of the Owls squad for pre-season training this summer as the Owls begin to shape their plans for an instant return to the Championship. The signing of a left-back could however increase speculation linking Tommy Spurr with a move to a Championship club before the start of the new season.
