Former Sheffield Wednesday striker and manager Derek Dooley has died at the age of 78.
Dooley was a prolific striker for the Owls during the early 1950s but suffered a broken leg that became infected with gangrene and led to him having to have his leg amputated.
He later had a spell as manager at Hillsborough in the early 1970s before becoming a director and then chairman of Sheffield United.
Wednesday's chief executive, Kaven Walker, told the club's official website: "Everybody associated with Sheffield Wednesday is deeply shocked and saddened to hear that Derek Dooley has passed away.
"Mr Dooley was a great servant to this football club as well as our close neighbours, Sheffield United.
"He will always be remembered with a great fondness by Sheffield football fans and he commanded a massive amount of respect both within the city and across the country.
"Beyond his involvement with both clubs, Derek was an excellent ambassador for the city of Sheffield and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad and difficult time."
