Owls face Glovers in search for first win

Wednesday Vs Yeovil: Team news & preview

The Championship returns to action this weekend following the international break and Sheffield Wednesday host Championship new boys Yeovil at Hillsborough on Saturday hoping to secure their first league win of the season at the sixth attempt.

Wednesday will be without captain and central defensive mainstay Anthony Gardner who faces months out due to an achilles injury picked up in the last match at Middlesbrough. Miguel Llera is expected to replace Gardner at the heart of the defence while left-back Reda Johnson will assume the captains role.

Lewis Buxton has been troubled by a hamstring problem of late. The right-back is thought to be close to a return but on loan West Ham defender Jordan Spence will continue to deputise if Buxton is not quite ready to play.

Striker Atdhe Nuhiu could come back into the starting line up having been on the bench against Middlesbrough.

Yeovil make the long trip north without the services of prominent striker Paddy Madden as he is struggling with a knee injury.

Goalkeeper Marek Stech is also sidelined due to a broken finger. Wayne Hennessey could play in goal for the Glovers while defender Liam Fontaine could make his debut having returned to his former club, signing from Bristol City in the transfer window.

The Owls are yet to win this season but have not lost any of their last 3 and have held the lead in four of their five league games to date.

Yeovil kicked off their Championship campaign with a win against Millwall but have since lost four league games in a row without scoring.

The two sides have only met four times in the league in their history with all four games coming during the Owls most recent spell in League One. Wednesday have enjoyed 3 league victories against the Glovers but Yeovil did manage a 2-2 draw on their first league visit to Hillsborough in 2011 despite been reduced to nine men during the second half.
