O'Connor makes Owls move

Former Burnley midfielder James O'Connor has agreed a deal to join Sheffield Wednesday on a three-year contract.

The 28-year-old had been with the Clarets for four years, but opted to reject fresh terms and head to Hillsborough for next season.

Owls boss Brian Laws told the club's official website: "I am delighted to have secured the services of James O'Connor.

"He is a proven player at Championship level and brings a wealth of experience to a key area of our team.

"James will bring an excellent work-rate, a great attitude and numerous other qualities to our squad."

O'Connor started his career with Stoke City, before heading to West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2003. A year later he joined Burnley, where he scored 11 goals in 151 appearances.
