Laws proud despite setback
09 Apr 2008 - 13:11:23
Manager Brian Laws tried to look on the bright side after seeing Sheffield Wednesday surrender a two-goal lead in the Steel City derby at Bramall Lane.
The Owls were 2-0 ahead at Sheffield United just after the hour mark thanks to an Adam Bolder double, but failed to close the game out to take another massive step towards Championship survival.
Laws told the Sheffield Star: "There are some positives. In general the players were outstanding.
"Bramall Lane is difficult place to play, especially with the way Kevin Blackwell has got his team playing, but I don't think he was quite ready for what we produced, we played really well.
"We passed the ball well and created an abundance of chances. I'm gutted for the players. They deserved more and three points would have catapulted us up the league.
"We have thrown away points. We should have been well and truly safe by now, but we're not.
"We have four games left and we still need those couple of wins to make sure. The sooner we get them, the better."
