Laws plays down upheaval
28 Nov 2007 - 10:19:25
Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws doesn't believe his players will allow themselves to be distracted by the current boardroom upheaval at Hillsborough.
The Owls continued their recent purple patch with a 1-0 victory over local rivals Barnsley on Tuesday night.
The South Yorkshire derby was overshadowed by the shock resignation of Wednesday chairman Dave Allen last week, but Laws has praised his players for keeping their eye on the ball.
"Footballers are footballers. They get out there and can close their minds on anything that's going on because there's a game to be played," he said.
"I'm sure whatever happens will be for the good of the club.
"We've got over the shock now and we've got to move on. Some decisions will have to be made, but they're out of our hands.
"Whatever decisions are made, we'll carry on regardless. That's the important thing.
"This football club is the most important thing, it's not about one person, it's about the football club.
"The supporters want to be reassured and I'm sure they soon will be."
