Laws hoping to strengthen

Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws is hoping to strengthen his squad with loan signings ahead of Sunday's Steel City derby date.

The Owls are definitely without two players for the clash with Richard Hinds and Akpo Sodje nursing long-term problems.

Meanwhile, Tommy Spurr, Peter Gilbert, Richard Wood and Frank Simek are all considered doubtful for the visit of the Blades to Hillsborough.

"I would like to do something before the weekend," Laws told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"We knew we had to set aside some money for January.

"We may have to use that money now because we do need to strengthen and I'd like to do that before the game."
