Laws cools play-off talk
11 Dec 2006 - 09:26:25
Sheffield Wednesday's new boss Brian Laws has played down talk of a play-off charge by his rejuvenated Owls outfit.
A 2-1 victory at Norwich City lifted Wednesday to within three points of the top six, but Laws is cautious about his side's prospects, despite a run of four wins and a draw in six games since he joined the club.
He said: "It's too early to start talking about the play-offs, at this stage the important thing is to move away from the bottom.
"My ambition is the same as any player. I want to ply my trade at the highest level.
"There was no chance of me going straight from Scunthorpe to the Premiership, so the only way I could have the chance of getting there was by using a club that is big enough to get me there.
"We have got to get into the position where we are a good Championship side and move on from there. If we keep improving then at some stage we'll get there."
