Sheffield Wednesday have been given hope that loan midfielder Graham Kavanagh may return to the club in the near future.
The 33-year-old has returned to Sunderland after just over a month at Hillsborough, but could return to the Owls if the Black Cats' injury list clears up.
Sunderland boss Roy Keane commented: "He went there with us knowing he needed to get half-a-dozen games or so under his belt in order for us to really see where he was at.
"I spoke to Brian Laws and they have been delighted with him and he's come back with a view to him challenging for a first-team spot.
"It will be good to have Kav back and we'll just see how he gets on over the next few weeks.
"If we get one or two lads back fit in the next few weeks and Kav isn't getting in the side and comes to see me, then we'll have another look at it."
