Jeffers handed olive branch

Brian Laws insists Francis Jeffers can still force his way back into the Sheffield Wednesday team.

The former Everton and Arsenal forward was transfer-listed and fined two weeks' wages after being sent off for a head-butt in last month's Carling Cup defeat at Port Vale.

"He's been punished for his actions but I don't believe you isolate anybody in your football club," said the Owls boss.

"He's a Sheffield Wednesday player, paid by us and therefore he comes into consideration.

"We have to treat each player with respect and, while they're here, they'll get that respect. If they deserve punishment, they'll get it. The lad knows it was wrong.

"He knows exactly what the score is and when the transfer window re-opens for loan moves this week there's still an opportunity for him to go out on loan."
