Jeffers: Best yet to come

Sheffield Wednesday striker Francis Jeffers believes his best form is yet to come following his return to the scoresheet at the weekend.

The former England striker ended a 18-game barren spell with his first goal of the season during Saturday's 4-1 victory over Charlton Athletic at Hillsborough.

"I never ever lose the belief because I know I've done it wherever I've been," he told the club's official website.

"I've always had the confidence but when you're not scoring, you concentrate on keeping on top of your game, working hard and doing the right things on and off the pitch.

"Sometimes you think 'is it ever going to go in' but you can only think that way for a split second after the chance has gone or the keeper has made a good save.

"You get those thoughts out of your head straight away, bat on and hope another chance comes your way.

"I also don't think I'm fully at my best yet. I had a lot of time out with injury last season, but I'm getting there and getting better with every game."
