Irvine rages at sloppy Owls defending
Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine slammed his side`s defending after watching 10-man Plymouth come away with a 3-2 victory in a thrilling encounter at Home Park. The Owls twice pegged Argyle back on level terms only for Craig Noone - two minutes after Tommy Miller`s equaliser - to secure a first home win for Peter Reid`s side late on.Irvine fumed: "The defending was unacceptable. We have come back from being a goal down twice, we've then immediately given ourselves a problem."At half-time you are thinking they have got 10 men but you know that it's not a foregone conclusion that you are going to win. You know that it can sometimes be difficult but you know as well that you should be the team more likely to win."The start that we had to the second half was obviously something that gave us a massive problem. We then got ourselves back in the game for a second time and immediately conceded again. It was down to poor defending in both cases. It was also down to poor mentality I think."He added: "It's difficult to be positive about anything at this moment because of the way the result went and the goals we conceded."
