Irvine curses Pilkington stunner
Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine was left frustrated after his side went down 1-0 at promotion rivals Huddersfield thanks to a wonder goal he had spent all week in training trying to prevent. The visitors were felled by Anthony Pilkington's first-half long-range beauty, one of several the winger has curled in from distance this season.Irvine said: "It was maddening to lose to a goal like that because we know what quality Pilkington has."We worked hard in training to nullify the threat and talked about it at length. It was a great goal but when you've worked so hard to prevent it, it's really annoying."After a pulsating contest, Irvine added: "We deserved something from the game. We had a lot of chances but didn't take them."Irvine also revealed he will be taking his time over potential transfer window signings. He said: "We're looking to bring players in and we'll make sure we do our homework properly. But there's always a chance other clubs could come in and scupper a deal and that's something which has happened before."
