    Hinds setback stuns Owls

    12 Sep 2008 - 13:24:37

Sheffield Wednesday right-back Richard Hinds is unlikely to play again this season after breaking his leg in last month's 4-1 defeat at Wolves.

Hinds could be sidelined for up to eight months and his absence may persuade Brian Laws to extend Tony McMahon's month-long loan switch from Middlesbrough.

USA international Frank Simek has already been out of action for nine months, and Laws told the Owls' official website: "We have to strengthen that area because we can't put timescales on Frankie Simek's comeback and Richard Hinds now looks likely to be out for six to eight months.

"Richard's been to see the specialist again. When he went before, the initial timescale put on it was three to six months, but now they've gone to between six and eight months, which is a massive blow for the kid and for the club.

"I feel for him because he's in the last year of his contract and he's given everything for the football club.

"He got injured and we need to take his welfare into consideration. I'm disappointed for him and I hope he has a speedy recovery."
