Happy Hinds close to return

Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Hinds is set to return from injury four months ahead of schedule.

The 28-year-old sustained a damaged ankle and leg fracture in August with initial estimates suggesting he could be sidelined until April 2009.

However, after returning to training, Hinds now expects to be ready for a first-team return next month.

He told the Sheffield Star: "I'm training fully with the first team and I feel I'm ready to play.

"It will be a few more weeks' training, though - I've been told I can't join in the games yet. They don't want to rush me back too quickly, because I'd be at a greater risk of getting injured again.

"I've been out for a few months so I can't just go straight back into first-team football, I need to build up. At the moment I feel good, I feel fit and I'm pleased with that.

"Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be back playing."
